“Sonnengeschmolzene Wolkenfelder reisen ruhig dem Horizont entlang… Roter und weißer Rauch umwabert die Konturen eines fliegenden Flaggschiffs… Schon bald wird die Nacht den Zeppelin vollends verschlungen haben, ebenso die Industrietürme, den Wohlstandsee und die Wolkenkratzer.”

Das erklärte Ziel von RHIZONE ist nicht weniger als Vielheiten zum musikalischen Geflecht zusammenzuführen – denn ihre Musik ist eine Bühne für Agierende, durchwoben von den Verästelungen menschlicher Angelegenheiten, Bezüge und den Geschichten, die aus ihnen entstehen.

Diese Erzählungen lässt das Wiener Quintett durch Schreib-Maschine, Stimme, Piano & Gitarre (Thomas Hutter), Saxophon & Gitarre (Michael Auinger), Schlagzeug & Percussion(Georg Hinterberger), Bass (Lukas Brandl) und engelsgleicher Stimme, durchtrieben von lebendigen Synths (Ulli Grill), erklingen. Doch an jeder beliebigen Stelle kann das Rhizom gebrochen und zerstört werden, es wuchert entlang seiner eigenen oder anderen Linien weiter.

Der Geflechtsplan?

Lyrische Betonbäume, ausbrechende Astschrauben und ein progressiver Holzzeppelin am Weg zu… Ein visionärer Blattbau mit donnerndem Bunkergewächs und melodischer Hochhauswurzel. Eine Schlacht ohne Opfer. Mord ohne Tod. Leben ohne Müssen. Schüsse ohne Wunden. Sprießpulver und Phrasenkanonen…

Eine Schatzkarte….ohne Schatz.

“Sun-melted clouds travel smoothly along the horizon … Red and white surrounding the contours of a flying flagship … Soon night will have devoured the zeppelin completely, as well as the industry towers, the prosperity lake and the pearl skyscrapers.”

The declared goal of RHIZONE is nothing less than to bring together diversity into a musical network - because their music is a stage for actors, interwoven with the ramifications of human affairs, relationships and the stories that arise from them.

The Viennese quintet uses a typewriter, voice, piano & guitar (Thomas Hutter), saxophone & guitar (Michael Auinger), drums & percussion (Georg Hinterberger), bass (Lukas Brandl) and angelic voice, driven by lively synths (Ulli Grill), to tell these stories. But the rhizome can be broken and destroyed at any point; it continues to grow along its own or other lines.

The weave plan? Lyrical concrete trees, breaking branch screws and a progressive wooden zeppelin on the way to … A visionary leaf structure with thundering bunker plants and melodic high-rise roots. A battle without sacrifices. Murder without death. Life without having to. Shots without wounds. Sprout powder and phrase cannons …

A treasure map …. without treasure.

RHIZONE funktioniert wie ein Rhizom [Lesetipp: Rhizom von Gilles Deleuze & Félix Guattari]… daher ja auch der Name. Alles darf, aber nichts muss einfließen. RHIZONE vertont selbsterdachte Geschichten und bringt diese nicht nur in Form von Musik, sondern auch in visueller Darstellung, u.a. als Art - Rock - Theater, auf die Bühne und ins Zuhause all derer, die sich hingeben, ausbrechen und genießen wollen. Dementsprechend steht Rhizone in ständigem Austausch mit KooperationspartnerInnen aus unterschiedlichsten Kunstrichtungen: RegisseurInnen, SchauspielerInnen, Visual Artists, etc., deren Kritik und Ideen ein essentieller Bestandteil der Produktionsform unserer Kunstwerke ist. Wer sich einbringen möchte, kann/darf/soll das auch tun. Punkt. Als erstes Gesamtkunstwerk gilt es, das Bühnenwerk “Metropolis or In Search of the Black Water” zu vertonen und zu visualisieren. Dieses besteht aus den drei Akten “Timelines”, “Borderlines” und “Lines of Flight”. Darin werden Normalität und Wahnsinn im Zeitalter des gläsernen Menschen verhandelt. Die Akte werden in Konzeptalben gegossen und gepresst; sie ergeben gemeinsam ein mehrstündiges Theaterstück, das sowohl als Konzertreihe, als auch als Art - Rock - Theater zur Aufführung gelangt. Der erste Akt dieses ersten Gesamtkunstwerkes beginnt wie so viele Geschichten mit einem Individuum und seinen Träumen…

We’re glad to inform you about our upcoming Release of “Timelines”, a record full of hope and destruction in over 60 minutes. Be sure to follow us on Instagram to stay in tune. The record will first be released on all common streaming-platforms. In the near future we will also offer LP’s.

22. October 2021 //BLACK VISIONS OF THE UNKNOWN: VIDEO RELEASE OF OUR SINGLE “GOD HELL”//

We are quite happy to tease you for our first video for the upcoming single “God Hell”, which was filmed by the director Martin Nefe in June, 2021. He and a bunch of artists (including yours truly RHIZONE) were crawling through the dirt and swimming in a deep, dark pond in the middle of the night to get us pictures, we couldn’t even have dreamed of before. Thanks a lot to the whole crew for making this unbelievably dark-sided music-video a part of our realities. It will be released together with the record “Timelines”, so check it out then!
